CURLS AND GIRLS~

A pic from the wedding that Ty and Forrest (I believe that they are calling their duo, "Ole Creek,")  played at last night.  The boys are letting their hair grow out so the curls are on the loose.  And what a doll they are pictured with;  Lucy Jo.  She is a mini Julia Roberts.  What a beauty!

A piece was missing from my tri-pod, so no video to post, but the boys got another gig from last night's show, for this Friday.  I will post a few songs this weekend.

LONGING FOR RED BULL IN THE MOUNTAINS

I just went through some of my family vacation pictures from last summer.  I am longing for a Red Bull in the Rocky Mountains!

No better way to wake up.  Cannot wait to hit the hiking trails again in August.

"Good morning!!"  Red Bull on Mount Princeton--Nathrop, Co ~~

CREST WHITE STRIPS AND COFFEE

I just spit my teeth whitener strip out and now I want coffee...Dang it.

ZAC BROWN, ELI YOUNG, DARIUS RUCKER AND ORIGINALS~~

Forrest and his bud Ty Daniels, who he grew up playing football with  here  in Coweta, have finally gotten a couple hour set of acoustic music together.  Ty Daniels was also actually the original bass player in Forrest's first band, "Crooked X."  They were 10 and 11 years old respectively when they first started playing music together.  Back before the days of voice changes and girl friends.  Forrest and Ty are  heading to Wagoner to play at the Canebrake for a wedding tomorrow night.

I am sending my camera and tripod with them, and will post some video of their acoustic set, which includes covers of Zac Brown, Eli Young, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Van Morrison, Darius Rucker, Johnny Cash, Steel Drivers, and others, as well as Forrest's original songs.

They are so proud of their newest editions.  Forrest is pictured below with his 1989 D-28P Martin that he purchased from Guitar House of Tulsa, where he works, and Ty is the new proud owner of his first Taylor that he also purchased from Guitar House.

Boys and their guitars!

God's speed George Jones.  You were a part of the sound track of my life---Raised on your music.  What a legend~

TODDLER TALK~

My sweet 21 month old grand daughter Clara Jane is smart as a tack, but taking her time verbalizing. Tonight I was having her try to repeat words as I said them.

I got to her name. "Clara....Claaarrra...Clllarrra...CLARA..." I said over and over with my tongue in perfect annunciation position---She finally smiled big and said very clearly---"ME!!!"

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

I am not sure why I have never seen the movie, "Friday Night Lights," until today, but it was incredible.  Living in a small town with a Wal-Mart, growing up going to high school football games, and having a son that played I felt like I knew every character.

The movie was made so well, and featured such real, raw emotion.  I had tears in my eyes half of the time.  Loved it!  Cannot wait to look up the series.

I even had a "Sling Blade" flashback thanks to the casting of Billy Bob Thornton and Lucas Black---  Bonus!!

COMPOUND FACTURES AND PURPLE CASTS

I sub-ed for the P.E. teacher at IGC today, and a young man in middle school more than likely sustained a compound fracture from falling on his wrist in my gym class.

We were playing kick ball.  He was trying to outrun a student that was in hot persuit of him, and getting  ready to tag him out with the ball.  He accelerated past home plate, hit the cement wall and fell with all of his weight on his wrist.  It was pretty apparent that his wrist was badly broken.

What a tough little dude he was though.  He got up, held his arm, and just looked at me like, "Uh-oh!"

I'm sure that he has gotten fitted for a colorful cast this afternoon.  My sweet 8 year old niece also has a bright purple one on this week as well from getting bucked off her horse this weekend.

My prayers are that their little bones heal very quickly and they are both back on the kick ball court, and horse again soon.

Did I mention my ruling on the runner tumbling over the base was a home run...yes, he scored!!!

HAPPY EARTH DAY!

HAPPY EARTH DAY!  Reduce, Reuse, Recycle~

GUITAR AIRLINE CARRY ON

I'm sure just the sight of the guitar below, with its neck snapped and folded, sends shivers down all picker's spines. It is a guitar that you can fold in half, place in a small case, and carry on an airplane.

I can remember Forrest fretting and worrying each and every time that he would have to hand his Gibson baby over to the airline personnel to be transported to the cargo hold of the plane.

He was not whole again until he snatched his trusty guitar case from the luggage conveyer belt after the flight.  He would always pop open the case and inspect Betty, who was nestled safely in the red crush velvet lining.  I always admired the care he gave to his guitars as he traveled.

Fold in half, carry on guitar--- Good concept, but brutal pic!

SUCCULENTS AS A WORK OF ART~

My newest gardening obsession is succulents. I planted a hen and chick type plant a couple of years ago, and have given half of the county starts from it. I have it in pots all over the yard...you cannot kill it.

I went to Lowe's today and purchased two different varieties that look like clay roses. I am doing this Pinterest project for a hanging succulent garden for sure. I already have the antique blue frame painted.

My goal is to have it hanging at my front door within two weeks.

It was a great day to be out in the Oklahoma sunshine.  I spent four hours in the yard planting flowers this afternoon.  This time of the year makes me very happy!

~REMEMBERING OUR OKLAHOMA FRIENDS AND FAMILY~

Remembering our friends and family in Oklahoma today.  On April 19, 1995, the Oklahoma Federal Building was bombed.

Just a bit of advice for young mothers across the country.  The news has been inundated with so many stories of tragedy in the past week.  When I was a child, the "news" was just something my grandfather watched  at 6:00 each evening, with one hand over his right ear because he was hard of hearing.

Today there are  broadcasts, cell phone pictures, as well  internet stories and images available everywhere we go, 24 hours a day.  I remember as hard as I tried to shield my children from the news of terrible events when they were young, they were always affected by them.  Like clock work, I could see a sense of insecurity creep into their hearts anytime there was a big media story about sad event.  It would always prompt me to sit and talk with them, and let them know that they were safe.

My daughters were elementary school age when the Oklahoma City bombing took place.  I was the first parent to call the office and let them to turn on the news.  The secretary even had a family member that worked in the building, and was panic stricken.  It was so hard to keep the information from Jessica and Skylar.  They were smart cookies, and never missed a thing.  It was difficult to explain to them, since it was a topic in everyone's conversations, but I tried to turn them away from the media coverage as much as I possibly could.

I remember after the 911 attacks,  Forrest, who was in first grade at the time,   began having the teachers call me at least once a week  after complaining of  a stomach or head ache.  About a month after the awful event, his teacher called me into the classroom and showed me pictures that Forrest had been drawing.  Sketched out in pencil, in front of me, lay several drawings of two sky scrapers with a plane flying into them, and flames shooting out of the windows  I remember holding him tight as he  told me that he felt like something was going to happen to me.  That broke my heart.

Children are so smart, but so innocent.  They get very confused when the world seems to turn upside down and senseless acts of violence occur.  Just remember to try to shield them, as much as possible, from the news coverage of these awful events.  Talk to them.  Let them know they are safe.  Say prayers with them, and  most of all hug them often.

UNITED WE STAND WITH BOSTON~

United we stand with Boston as the suspects are being apprehended this morning.  Praying for the safety of the citizens in the community.

LOST DONKEY!

True to Oklahoma  in the springtime, we had some wicked weather in our neck of the woods, (and cow pastures) last night.  Local tornado shelters were packed with family and friends waiting for the sirens to halt their blasting, and the ominous squall lines to dissipate.  Storm watch parties were chic in Cow-Town last night.

Below is a f/b post by one of my dear friends, Misty Edwards.   Apparently, some fence line or gate  may have blown down, and a thunder-and-lightning spooked donkey wandered onto their property.  She is now trying to find the owner.

Another fun tale of rural living!

If you are reading this and know the owner of said donkey,  please give me a holler... I will put you through to the correct channels--- Thanks all!!

Quite a storm last night, a random Donkey showed up at our house in the night. Very gentle but we pinned it up till we find out who it belongs too. If you know anyone who may be missing one pls contact us. We live back in behind the cemetary.

GREAT ADVICE

I can hear Forrest singing and playing his Martin acoustic guitar in his music room as I type this, ("Brown Eyed Girl"...one of my favorites.)

Being the mama of a young musician, I can honestly say that this is some of the best advice you could give them~~

ps  Song two of his set  just started.  "Ring of Fire,"  by Johnny Cash.  This is fun--

Be smart, AND follow your dreams!

AIR BALLS AND FLAT IRONS~

I had a great day sub-ing for the P.E. teacher at Coweta Jr. High today.

Boys and girls are so funny at this age.  The majority of the young ladie's idea of P.E. is to try to hide most of the hour in the locker room, parked in front of the mirror, so they can rummage through their makeup bags, and straighten each others hair.

On the other hand, the boy's goal in P.E. is to stand at the half court, and chunk as many balls as they can at the basketball goal in hopes that one might go in. And believe me, you hear about it when and if one  finally does!  Most of the time they just succeed in hitting their unsuspecting buds, that are in the process of doing a lay up, directly in the head with their orbital rockets.

I also got to spend the last two hours of the day working with the special needs class, which was the highlight of my afternoon.

Lots of air balls, flat irons and precious, smiley students!

Good day!

HOT WATER!!

So I was just slouched at my bathroom sink, my forearms resting on the porcelain basin, with the faucet turned to the " H" (as in hot) position, just waiting for the warm water to begin cascading over my hands so that I could wash the cares of the world, (and the days makeup) off my face,  and go to bed.

Two solid minutes go by and I finally, slowly raise my weary head, stare at my disheveled hair in the mirror, and  realize that both the men in my house just took long, hot showers.  I proceed to splash my face with the once tepid, now ice cold water

So000,  "GOOD MORNING 10:30 p.m.!"

Where is my Unisom?

BOSTON YOU ARE IN MY PRAYERS~

Boston, you are in my prayers today, and in the coming weeks.  Praying for all the Boston Marathon explosion victims and their families.

HAPPY 80th BIRTHDAY ROY CLARK!!

I took some cold meds the night before last, and had crazy dreams all night.  I woke up and told my husband that I had a dream that Roy Clark was playing on our back porch.  I was the only one that recognized him, and was all proud...but confused.

Then I click on facebook this morning to see Roy Clark in my news feed.  It's his 80th birthday.

I then wanted to copy an image of Roy from the internet and download it onto my computer for my blog---a message popped up that said, "image already exists."  I truly can never recall copy and pasting any image of Roy Clark!

Roy Clark lives in Tulsa.  If I run into him in Wal-Mart this week, I am going to freak out!

HAPPY 80th BIRTHDAY ROY!  You have been on my mind good sir!

A NIGHT OUT ON T-TOWN

The Miranda Lambert-Dirks Bentley concert was just awesome.  I loved the fact that Miranda wore her opening act, Corb Lund's, tee shirt with her sparkly mini skirt.  She is a fire cracker, and Dirks Bentley is just as handsome as ever.

Their concert was like a fun, family gathering.

Great night out on T-Town with two of my precious kiddos.

MIRANDA LAMBERT AND BIG, BLONDE HAIR

Days like today, make this country girl proud that I can make my blonde hair, "big."  I can't wait to see Miranda Lambert and Dirks Bentley at the BOK Center in Tulsa tonight!!

All curled, teased and ready to go~

THE LITTLE PINK SHOE~

MY DAUGHTER, SKYLAR DAVIS,  POSTED THIS ON FACEBOOK YESTERDAY MORNING---MANY CHILDREN WITH 1-P36 DELETION SYNDROME NEVER WALK, AND HAVE EXTREMELY LIMITED COGNITIVE SKILLS---OUR LITTLE EDDIE JETT IS A RULE-BREAKER.  ONE SMALL STEP FOR MOST FIVE YEAR OLDS...ONE BIG STEP FOR EDDIE JETT!

IN TEARS!!! Eddie just did such a big boy thing for me!! I was putting Anna's shoes on and realized one was missing, and I remembered Eddie had it in the bathroom earlier so I showed him the one I had and said "Will you bring me the other one? It's in the bathroom, go grab it and bring it back!". He looked puzzled for a second, then a little light lit up in his eyes, and he took off running to the bathroom! He was in there about a minute when I decided he got distracted like usual and just gave up, and just when I was about to get up to go get it myself, he came trotting down the hall with the proudest smile on his face and Anna's little pink shoe in his hand, arm extended out to me :D I just started yelling and praising him, he was sooooo excited that he just kept taking it back and handing it to me so I'd clap and yell all over again! I know your little ones learned to do this sort of thing when they were 2, but I've waited 5 long years and I am proud as punch!! I know he won't consistently do this type of thing for me, but it's a start, and a very big one at that ♥ — with Jody French.

COLORADO MOUNTAIN PARADISE

Just made reservations for our annual family vacation in the Colorado mountains.  I was born in Englewood, CO, and my mother moved back to Buena Vista years later.  We just fell in love with that area when she lived there.

Our favorite get away destination is Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort in Nathrop, CO.  It is a mountain paradise, with gorgeous natural hot springs, new pampering spa facilities, and breath taking views.

We go every year in August when the Oklahoma heat index is 115 degrees in the shade.  And yes, we take pictures of the temperature gauges that read 40-76 degrees in Colorado, and send them back home.  Our family and friends always appreciate it.

Mount Princeton...add it to your vacation destination list.

FORREST'S GREEN SMOOTHIE RECIPE--

Here is the recipe for the Green Smoothie recipe that Forrest made for me.

They are super-duper healthy and very delicious.  Just close your eyes and sip, if the green freaks you out.  You can not even taste the spinach.  If your feeling under the weather, blend a batch of these up to get a boost in your immunity system---lots of nutrients in a refreshing and satisfying drink.

GREEN SMOOTHIE

1/2 cup frozen strawberries
1 banana
1/2 cup of plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
1-2 cups of baby spinach
1 scoop of vanilla or cinnamon protein powder
a splash of (no sugar added) apple juice
a couple ice cubes (depending on how frosty you like your smoothies)

Blend, enjoy and be healthy!

GREEN SMOOTHIES---SWEET SONS

Not feeling well this morning, but up and at em' getting ready to head out the door to help Skylar with Eddie Jett and Annabelle, as they have a couple Dr.'s appointments  this morning.

Forrest came in and asked me if I wanted him to make me some pancakes or oatmeal.  I kindly declined, and 20 minutes later he came in and handed me a green smoothie.  I told him that I couldn't drink after him, ( I thought he just wanted me to taste it; he's always having me try his healthy concoctions,) but he said, "no Mom, it's yours.  I made it for you... you need to drink it all.

CAN YOU TELL ME HOW TO GET TO SESAME STREET?!

I had the best time at Sesame Street Live at the BOK Center yesterday evening,  It was a jamfest with Elmo and the entire gang!

I go every year with my daughters and grand babies.  It is the sweetest thing to see the world through the eyes of a child.  The magical sparkle that comes over their little faces is the best, and Sesame Street Live just mesmerized all the children.

Lots of little thumbs up for the Sesame Street Live production---and the cotton candy was awesome too!!

Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street?  Why yes I can.  Purchase a ticket for the fun-filled show when it comes to a city near you!

MOVIE REVIEW~

"Evil Dead" movie review---It almost made Forrest pee his pants! So yeah, pretty worth it. Monty and I got a kick out of watching he and his football bud, Ty squirm and squeal like school girls.

The effects were wicked awesome, (said with a Boston accent)  good actors; worth the price of a ticket if you are a fan~

"EVIL DEAD"

My favorite genera of film is horror.  I just bought tickets online for the re-make of the 1981 cult classic, "Evil Dead."

I sure hope it lives up to Sam Raimi's production.  Stay tuned for a full movie review.

Here's to scary movies on a Saturday night!

THE DRUG HOUSE!

My three year old grand son, Landon, was at his pediatrician's a yesterday.  As they were getting ready to leave, he looked at his mom and said, "Mama, I want to go see Ga-Ga at the "drug house."  OMG!

Actually, "Drug Warehouse" is turning into a Walgreen's in our town in a couple of days, so they are having a huge clearance sale.  I told my daughter to meet me there after they were done.

I'm really glad his Dr. didn't hear him say that!

I got so many amazing bargains though.  I'm probably going back to the "drug house" again this afternoon after I get off work!

Thanks Drug Warehouse!

I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW

Oh the joys of aging.  I glanced in the mirror this morning, and saw that I had a pair of readers on my face, on top of my head, and in the collar of my t-shirt.

Yep.

WAGON WHEEL~

Hey Darius Rucker----Rock me like a wagon wheel!!!!

HAPPY EASTER~

I want to wish everyone a very happy, blessed Easter filled with family, and love!!  We have had a wonderful day here in Oklahoma.

I LOVE TO WATCH CHILDREN HUNT EASTER EGGS---SOME RUN AROUND LIKE CHICKENS WITH THEIR HEADS CUT OFF, SOME HAVE A PLAN, SOME ARE LADY LIKE, GRACEFULLY TODDLING IN THEIR SWEET DRESSES, AND SOME LIKE TO JUST SIT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF IT ALL AND REFLECT~~  I LIKE TO REFLECT IN THE CHAOS TOO----

Clara Jane inspecting her basket before she drops each egg in gracefully~

Maddy being a sweet lady while searching for eggs, and Eddie Jett taking time to sit in the cool, green grass and reflect on his latest find~~

Landon is just giddy about all the Reese's chocolate eggs he found!

And last, but not least, our baby Annabelle being totally precious in her pink (of course) dress on her very first Easter<3
