WONDERFUL WEEKEND

I had such a blessed and busy weekend.

We planted a small garden out back, spent some time with the grandchildren that came over to swim, attended my daughter's best friend's wedding, which was a perfect place to spend a couple hours of our 28th wedding anniversary, had a sushi date with my husband and children at our favorite restaurant in Tulsa, (In The Raw) saw Brad Pitt on the silver screen in, "World War Z, and attended a concert at our church where Forrest played and sang with the praise and worship band.

Tired, but content this morning.  Made lots of memories!

Wishing everyone has a wonderful, productive week ahead~~

Still smoochin' after all these years.  Monty and I at the German American Center in Tulsa, OK at Ashley and Bernardo's wonderful wedding~It was a beautiful building~

My precious Jessica and son-in-law Caleb---Jess was a bridesmaid.  She looked so gorgeous!

Love my girls, Skylar and Jessica<3

Jeremy's chin working overtime in T-Town!  Pretty faces, lovely night!

28 YEARS~

Twenty eight years could seem like a lifetime, but for me it went as swift as a dream,
It began with you, and your warm eyes of blue, and grew to a love that is vast as the sea,
We sailed along with our babies and songs under skies mostly lit by the sun,
And even in storms, when we're weathered and worn, we draw closer as our love's just begun~~~  jf

Love to my handsome, hard working husband on our 28th wedding anniversary!

We are heading our for a romantic "get away" to Lowe's this morning!!

ALL AMERICAN DUDES~~

It was firecracker hot in good old Oklahoma today, so swimming lessons were fruitful.  Forrest came out to help for a couple of hours today, and found out that another little swimmer had the same fashion sense that he does.

It's actually his precious little cousin, Titus, who learned how to float and kick all by himself in his arm bands today for the first time!  Woo-hoo!  That's a big deal for a two year old.

Pictured below are two of the cutest all American boys I know!

Happy summer!

Well...this is embarrassing!  Twinkies!!!

Forrest and his little cousin Titus---sharing the same passion for fashion and their country~~

SWIMMING LESSONS AND FINE JEWELRY~

I finally completed my first two week session of swimming lessons Saturday.  We had to reschedule several times due to the rain that keeps sweeping the plains, and I also came down with laryngitis last week.  It was a bit frustrating since Oklahoma's skies are usually clear and sunny in June, and I never get sick this time of year.

I sat my last class on the deck, began going over  the safety rules, and reached for one of my little round-cheeked, five year old students toes that were dangling in the water.  I asked him what his favorite rule was.  He proceeded to say, "Never go around the water without a mama or daddy."  I praised him, splashed his little feet around in the water for a moment and started to move down the line, when he reached into his wet swimming trunks pocket.  He retrieved something  that was balled up in his little hand.

"Ms Jody...this is for you."  he said in the sweetest little quiet voice.   It was a colorful, stretchy, and slightly damp, candy necklace!

It had to be the most precious piece of jewelry I've ever received.  I may not eat it, but I'm sure going to wear it!

My next session begins tomorrow.  I have thirty more students scheduled for class.  I can't wait to meet my new friends, and help them develop swimming skills and a love for the water.  It's one of the most rewarding things I do.

Happy summer and be safe!

This is Hunter, the precious little guy who gave me the candy necklace!  Made my day!!

Going over our safety rules with some of my little fishies~~

RANDY BLYTHE--LAMB OF GOD

Forrest was thrilled to receive a text from Randy Blythe of Lamb of God today.  His band is playing the Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa tonight.

Forrest is his un-official tour guide, and loves to trek him around town in his pickup looking for spots of interest.  Randy has a passion for photography and enjoys shooting landmarks in the cities that he plays in.

This year, it's the impressive, and inspirational praying hands bronze statue at Oral Roberts University.

Incredible musician, artist, and all around great guy---thanks for rocking Tulsa, Randy  Blythe and Lamb of God...I'm sure you guys are going to blow the roof off the joint!

Forrest looks forward to your visit every year.

"TAIL" OF A MISSING CHICKEN--

Another jewel of Southern living...this was posted on the f/b site, Things for Sale in Coweta, OK.

The caption read, "Anyone missing a chicken?  It doesn't have a tail.  It's been making the rounds in our neighborhood!"

"TAIL" OF A MISSING CHICKEN! EVERYONE NEEDS A LITTLE ADVENTURE EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE.

WHY IS THIS CHICKEN GONNA CROSS THE ROAD? WELL YOU KNOW...

MUSIC MAKES THE FAMILY GROW FONDER <3

Music draws us together.  It gathers us around campfires, and compels us to relax and sit barefoot on back porches.  The world seems to fall away, as we hold each other closer, and light our lips on loved one's cheeks as our favorite tune is  played.

Music makes the family grow fonder~

BACK PORCH PICKIN'

After a couple of weeks of wicked, unpredictable Oklahoma weather, it was so nice to be able to enjoy an evening out side with just one or two lazy, non-threatening, white, puff ball clouds floating above.

We had the most wonderful night.  Family, friends, dogs, cats, decadent desserts, drinks, and southern, toe tapping, live music.

I am beyond blessed to live in my small town.  My favorite people are always just a stones throw away!

OUR BACK PORCH CONCERT

PUT A GUITAR IN YOUR CHILD'S HANDS AND THE MUSIC WILL NEVER LEAVE~

I have been longing for a good concert, and actually found an acoustic duo that is willing to give me a private concert in my back yard tomorrow night!

To all of my neighbors, it is going to get a bit loud at around dark-thirty until 10:00 or so.  You can probably just set your lawn chairs out and enjoy the music from your lawns as well..Forrest's voice carries.

If you take your child to guitar lessons for seven years, enroll him in voice lessons, fill his room with axes, amps, and gear until you run out room, and never tell him to turn his tunes down...the music will never leave!

Thanks for letting me book you for my back yard bash, Ty and Forrest.  I am looking forward to the fine weather, and some excellent back porch picking.

If you play it...they will come~

THINGS TO DO ON A MONDAY~

Getting the pool de-cotton wooded, (I knew I should have let my husband cut down that blasted Cotton Wood tree when we first moved here,) and ready to go for my first day of swimming lessons which begin tomorrow.

I am very excited to have my fishies back this year, and hoping that the severe weather we have had so much of in the past two weeks stays at bay so we can enjoy the water.

Forrest and his buddy, Ty left for Moore, Oklahoma again this morning to go help out the tornado victims.  I am so proud of those two dudes.

I hope everyone has a fantastic, fun, and sun filled week without rain or wind!

I HAVE BEEN---AND ALWAYS SHALL BE---YOUR FRIEND

Yep, it's official.  I am a Star Trek nerd.  I had to wipe tears out from behind my oversized 3-D glasses as the credits rolled on the new Star Trek flick.

The movie lived up to my high expectations.  See it at an I-Max theater, and in 3-D, if you get the chance.  It is the only way to go on the thrilling, space ripping, ride that is Star Trek.

"I have been---and always shall be---your friend."

Tear~~~
