Jason Isbell--"Elephant" cover by Forrest French

This song is so sad, but so beautiful at the same time~
Jason Isbell is a heck of a song writer...love the cover.

MILEY RAY CIRUS...BLAHHHH!

I sometimes beat myself up over doing the opposite of what some parents may have done if they had a child that was becoming popular, in a national sense, in the entertainment industry.

As much as we supported his dream, my husband and I did our best to guide and protect Forrest in the world of the dog-eat-dog music business.  But the "what ifs",  had he continued on his rocket ride in the rock world...the notions of success and notoriety that he could have had...the monetary compensation that he was on the road to receiving, do still plague my thinking now and again.  Was I a party to dashing his dreams?  Then I turn on the television and get a load of Miley Cirus's VMA performance.

Not that Forrest would have worn rubber shorts on stage sporting a foam finger, and well...you know, (insert Will Smith VMA family photo with aghast expressions here.)  But, I'm thankful that he didn't have to continue in his most crucial years as an adolescent, thinking that he had to sell out every ounce of his integrity to stay relevant in the business.

And thankful that I wasn't "that mom" that gave him a standing ovation when he did~

I think that Forrest being able to have his normal teen years back ended up being a definite plus---

Let me end my rant on a good note regarding Miley.  I truly believe that she has a voice reminiscent of Stevie Nicks, and is a beautiful young lady.  She certainly didn't need to resort to shock tactics in my opinion...but then again, I am writing a blog about her.  The tweets have to be out of control.

I guess it is officially mission accomplished in the Miley camp.

NOOOOOO!!

BALLOON HUMOR!

My facebook friend posted this pic that she shot here in town at a house for sale...made me laugh!!  Oh Coweta, how you amuse me!

Is this an open house, or are you just glad to see me?

LOOKING TO THE SKY~

Handsome boy, spreading some musical love Friday night.

Tahlequah, Oklahoma  8/22/13

KILLER 'SWON-CERT!!'

What an incredible evening of music last night in Tahlequah, Oklahoma!  The weather was perfect, and the talent was true.

Forrest was beyond honored to open with an acoustic set for the incredibly talented Swon Brothers.  I know the snaking line across the field after his performance took him (and his dad and I) aback.  Forrest signed CDs and took pics with new found friends and fans for over an hour after his opening act.

I got the chance to speak to Colton and Zach's sweet mom, Tammy as well---what a close knit family that has a great love for God.  The boys incredible talent, energy and heart is going to move them fast and far!  And the musicians that are now playing with the boys are killer as well!!

Wonderful night for a show!

Forrest is at a club in Tulsa tonight, helping out on guitar with a party band comprised of his work buddies from Guitar House.  They played everything from the blues, to country, and word on the street is they even played "Mmmbop!"  Gotta love Oklahoma musicians!!

Have a great week end all---go out and find some good live music to enjoy and support if you get a chance!

*Please excuse the poor photo quality in the pictures below.  My camera broke on the way to the show, so I had to find a cheapie quick.  I couldn't even get any video tape---(yep, Mamarazzi's nightmare came true!) haha~

Swon Brothers rocking the stage~

Forrest was pumped to be back up on stage! Beautiful night for a show~

Forrest's meet and greet line after his set was at least 3 times as long  as the picture shows!!!!  Forrest was blown away!

LOVE AND INSPIRATION ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL~

Like any other mother, I prayed for perfect, healthy children with each of my pregnancies.  Each of my sweet babies had ten fingers, ten toes, and hit every infant and toddler marker on time, if not before.

My children collectively were, Valedictorians, national champion athletes, beauty queens, and rock stars. But most of all, they had wonderful, big hearts that were sensitive to the needs of others.

Like any family though, we could never imagine how we would handle a baby born with special needs.  Not that we were indifferent to the thought, but it just wasn't an issue that we had ever had to face, as so many families do.

We could never imagine dealing with the needs of a special child, that is, until Eddie Jett was born.  My first-born grand son.  My now, five year old angel, who was born with the very rare condition of 1-p36 deletion syndrome--- a syndrome in which the tips of the 1p-36 chromosome is deleted---a syndrome where the deficit can lead to a lifetime of disability.

My daughter struggled deeply with the thought that her precious baby boy would ever be able to breath properly, eat without a tube in his stomach, sit up, crawl, walk, run, speak, etc..  It was all a grey-cloud, shrouded mystery.  Most of the time we didn't even have time to think about his future.  For my daughter, just getting him to medical appointments, and maintaining his little life was a day to day battle.

Now, our family could never imagine what we would do if we were left un-blessed without our Eddie Jett.  He has taught us all more about patience, kindness, humility, selflessness, and most of all unconditional love, than anything, or anyone else could have.

Eddie Jett's first day of his second year of school began today.  The picture below represents the love that our family has for this amazing boy in such a wonderful way.  My three year old grand son, Landon, who is two years younger than Eddie Jett, ran to take Eddie's hand this afternoon.  They clasped tiny fingers as they made their way down the sidewalk to the doors of Eddie's school.

No one asked Landon to help him.  We didn't have to coax Eddie Jett to take Landon's hand.  They just came together in the most innocent and loving way, with Eddie Jett a bit unsure in the balance department, and Landon holding on to a toy net of fish in his free hand that he didn't want to leave behind in the car.

A picture can often capture what many written words cannot.  This image melts my heart every time I look at it...unconditional love.

What inspires you?

Old (young) Blue Eyes~

BANTERING WITH A 3 YEAR OLD!

I wrapped some little prizes for the kiddos so that they can open one every so often for good behavior in the car on our drive to Colorado this weekend. Landon called me a weirdo because I used Christmas paper... (I got the last laugh though---peanut butter and honey got in his hair as he leaned into his lunch---I need to grow up.

ADVANTAGES OF A SWIM INSTRUCTOR WHO BRIBES WITH POPSICLES

I found today, that one advantage of having over 30 children a day at times at my house for swimming lessons (and Ga-Ga duties) is first aid related.

I hit the bone in my elbow so hard today with my car door as I was loading up to head to town that it immediately began to swell and bruise.   I marched myself right back into my kitchen and found 3 large value packs of Ice Pops.  You know, those wonderful bright colored, cherry, grape, blue raspberry, etc., frozen confections packaged in  slim, rectangular plastic casings?

I did receive some pretty strange looks from  people though as I zipped around town with a banana Popsicle secured to my arm!  But, it worked incredibly well!  My new ice pack solution for future boo-boos.

Necessity is this swim instructor/Ga-Ga's mother of invention.

1936 Deletion Syndrome Conference in San Antonio begins today!!

LOVE DOESN'T COUNT CHROMOSOMES!
Me with my precious grand son  Eddie Jett!

I PIMPED THEIR RIDE FOR THE TRIP UP!
"THE EDDIE JETT MOBILE~~
____________________________________________

Back in March, Forrest and I began our fundraising efforts in order to send Eddie Jett to San Antonio Texas for the 1p36 Deletion Family Conference that begins this week. Many of you received one of Forrest's demo CD's for a kind donation. We reached our goal within a couple of weeks! I would like to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for making it possible for Eddie Jett and his family to attend what is going to be a very informative and fun time at the conference! Eddie Jett is checking into the hotel on The River Walk this morning, and their first adventure will be going to Morgan's Wonderland, which is an amusement park that was created exclusively for special needs children and individuals. When you think about how these precious children are born into "our" worlds and contend, on a daily basis, so many obstacles set before them in ordinary, daily life, it will be such a blessing for them to be able to enjoy some time in a setting that was created solely for them (not to mention what a thrill it
will be for their parents and care givers as well!) I know Eddie, Skylar and Jeremy will make many new friends this weekend thanks to your wonderful open hearts!! Much love to all, and thank you again!

OPENING ACT AND MUSICAL DUOS

Forrest got a call yesterday that brought some exciting news.

He is going to get to open for a very talented duo.  Stay tuned! I will be posting details on Sunday!

When I think of famous musical duos, I guess the one that comes to mind first for me would be Sonny and Cher (yes, I grew up in the 70's.)  My favorite would have to be Simon and Garfunkel though.  The first song that I ever remember truly listening to was, "Sound of Silence,"  which was played on my mom's record player.   How about you?
